My Story

I've always described myself as a "jack of all trades, master of none", I grew up having many hobbies, skills and interests. I always felt ashamed that I don't ever stick to one thing to become really good at. Instead, I kept jumping between interests my entire life. I got bored very easily, I had no patience or stamina to follow through with any project. But writing was always there, in many forms, and in my mother tongue Arabic as well as in English, my second language. I've always dreamt of being a published author. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in Egyptology and after failing to get my dream job as a field Egyptologist I joined a local medical newspaper in Cairo as a journalist. I managed to publish only one interview after many of my articles got rejected because they were "too sensitive" and "too risky". I realized that it wasn't what I was looking for and that I just won't kill my passion by generating ads for the newspaper like I was asked to do. I quit. My passion reignited once again when I joined a local mom blog in 2021 and started writing about my life as a mom, my mental health, my kids and living abroad.

In one sleepless night in the spring of 2023, I wrote a first draft of Racing Mind a story of a Girl with ADHD. I was restless and my mind was swarmed with all sorts of thoughts and ideas. I realized it’s a children’s book. On a whim and in an unlike me fashion I submitted it to a publisher, not expecting anything. It became the first project I ever finished!
